From Books to the Running Track: SINGTEX REFIT Diverse Green Actions

Written by Cassina Tsai, Deputy Manager of SINGTEX Innovation and Design Center

SINGTEX®’s REFIT™ program invites everyone to join a green initiative that combines reading, sports, and recycling. Our activities span textiles to books and from Taiwan to Vietnam, aiming for sustainable impact in all areas of life. Let’s promote sustainable living and sow seeds of hope for our planet’s future. This year, we’re excited to launch innovations like smart recycling bins, a second-hand book exchange, and the Run for Green™ Earth Day event, engaging diverse participants in building a better future

Smart Textile Recycling with VP Hsiao at Taipei Show.

At the Taipei Textile Show, REFIT™ and Vice President Hsiao Mei-chin introduced the interactive smart recycling bin for textiles. This device detects textiles made from 100% polyester using infrared sensors, guiding users through the recycling process. Vice President Hsiao Mei-chin even joined the REFIT™ textile sustainability movement, underscoring SINGTEX®’s commitment to circular fashion. This interactive experience connected the public with textile recycling, making it both educational and enjoyable.

Run for Earth: Sustainable Run on Earth Day

On April 22, Earth Day, SINGTEX® partnered with Fubon Financial and Run for Green™ to host a city-wide running event. Sixty participants ran along a specially designed route that formed the shape of a shirt, symbolizing support for textile circularity. Runners donated their used sportswear to the REFIT™ recycling bins, allowing SINGTEX® to give these items a second life through sustainable processes. This unique run encouraged participants to transform their environmental awareness into tangible actions for the planet.

Global Expansion: REFIT™ Debuts in Vietnam with FasLink at Green Up Marathon"

Participants engaged in recycling workshops, learned about textile regeneration, and earned “Sustainability Hero” badges for their contributions. This cross-border initiative highlights SINGTEX®’s goal to inspire sustainable textile practices globally.

"First ReRead Used Book Exchange Market" In honor of World Book Day, SINGTEX® held its first ReRead Used Book Exchange on April 23.

Colleagues were encouraged to bring books they no longer read to share with others, finding a new home for each one. The event successfully matched 64% of the books with new owners, while unswapped books were donated to a local second-hand bookstore. Through ReRead, SINGTEX® aimed to promote a culture of reuse before recycling, extending its eco-friendly mission beyond textiles.

As REFIT™ progresses, SINGTEX® looks forward to inspiring even more individuals and communities to embrace sustainable lifestyles.

From books and textiles to running for the planet, REFIT™ demonstrates that everyone can take small steps toward a greener future.
