we successfully hosted our 4th REFIT Second-Hand Clothes Exchange Market, gathering 153 items from colleagues across 9 departments. Remarkably, over 90% of these items found new owners, giving them a fresh start.
Reusing Resources: From Corporate Culture to Daily Practices
The practice of resource reuse is not limited to national policies or corporate collaborations; it is also closely connected to individual daily choices. Since launching the ‘REFIT™ Sustainable Textile Recycling Project’ in 2022, SINGTEX has emphasized the principle of ‘reuse before disposal’ within the company. This has been promoted through initiatives such as second-hand clothing and book exchange markets. To date, more than four events have been successfully held, receiving enthusiastic support from employees.
This event saw participation from employees across nine departments, collecting a total of 153 pieces of clothing. In the end, over 90% of the items were successfully exchanged, allowing old garments to find new owners and extend their value.
For the remaining unexchanged clothing, we further categorized and properly handled them as follows:
- REFIT™ Sustainable Textile Recycling Project
- Donated to charitable organizations such as Xinyi Used Clothing Recycling, ensuring that resources continue to be repurposed and reused.
Through these efforts, SINGTEX continues to strengthen its corporate culture of resource reuse, making sustainability more than just a slogan—it becomes an actionable practice.
