The ECOFUN team represented SINGTEX in the “2025 Taiwan Fashion Design Award,” presenting the theme “Urban Mirage” to portray the multifaceted character of Taipei. For designer Chen-Shuo Huang, Taipei is a city veiled in mist—both tangible and subtly dreamlike. As one walks through its streets, dynamism and tranquility coexist, and this inherent contrast became the foundation of his creative vision.
The concept for this collection, “Urban Mirage,” draws from his daily observations of Taipei. To him, the city is often enveloped in a soft, gray haze, simultaneously real yet slightly surreal. Its streets reveal a rhythm where busyness and stillness intersect, as though life constantly shifts between reality and imagination. Through this collection, he seeks to express that the urban landscape holds countless dimensions—and design becomes his medium for engaging in a dialogue with the city.
Urban Inspiration｜Capturing Design Moments from Taipei’s Everyday Life
The concept for this series began on a rainy day. The shifting interplay of light and shadow in the rain, the way people dress on the streets, and those fleeting, unintentional stories became design cues embedded in each garment. Some elements are expressed directly, while others are hidden within the structure—details that reveal themselves only when observed up close. I also incorporated reflections from the post-pandemic era, including the subtle, almost intangible sense of distance between people.
Sustainable Vocabulary｜Expressing Design Through Eco-Conscious Materials
ECOFUN advocates the idea that “creative design originates from human experience,” emphasizing the integration of ecological responsibility and imagination. In this collection, I selected ECOFUN’s eco-friendly textiles to ensure that sustainability is not merely a concept but something truly wearable in everyday life. Through material combinations and specialized techniques, the collection presents richer layers and visual depth—bringing sustainable fashion closer to human living.
Collaborative Energy ｜A Co-Creation Journey with the Team and Brand
The creative process was far from effortless—fabric limitations and design adjustments required constant refinement. Yet this journey reaffirmed that “design is never a solitary act.” From pattern makers and the sample room to the fabric team and management, every discussion brought the work closer to its ideal form. Although the challenges were significant, the final outcome is deeply rewarding. Being selected as a finalist in this competition is a profound affirmation—not only for me but for the collective effort of our entire team.
